English Premier League table at the end of the season

It was a disappointing season for Arsenal and all the Arsenal fans. We were expecting great things after Arsenal made it to the UEFA Champion's League finals last year (2005-2006) but it was not to happen.

Arsenal just missed too much chances this season, it was really frustrating to watch Arsenal at times . The players were passing the ball when they needed to shot and they were creating huge amount of chance but not capitalizing on them. Arsenal created lots of scoring chances and situations but at the final stage they failed to score. Well another thing that hampered Arsenal's season was , injuries to key players like Thierry Henry, Robin Van Persie and the list goes on and on. But still thats not an excuse, Arsenal have a lot of quality players and they can do the job.

Anyways, the season is over and Arsenal finish only fourth in the table. Manchester United won the title and they deserved it too. I still feel Arsenal could have finished third , in front of liverpool but again they failed to do the job. In the last match of the season, Arsenal could have secured the third place . All they had to do was win against Portsmouth but again they failed to produce the desired result. Ok enough of the criticism ....Arsenal will come back next season stronger than ever.

Review: Arsenal vs Portsmouth

This is really bad news for Arsenal football club and Arsenal fan alike. I thought Arsenal would finish third in the English Premier league table this year. Liverpool had the upper hand going into this game but Liverpool drew 2-2 against Charton and if Arsenal had won against Portsmouth, Arsenal would have finished third. But again it was the same old story of this season, Arsenal failed to take the chances they created. It was a different team with all young guns and lots of them were not playing in their usual location but still Arsenal should have won this match. Emanuel Eboue played in the right wing position and diaby was playing in the supporting striker role behind Julio Baptista. Johan Djourou was playing in Gilberto Silva's defensive midfield role .

Arsenal had a chance to take the lead against Portsmouth when Emanuel Eboue was tripped in the box . Penalty was awarded to Arsenal and Julio Baptista took the penalty taking duties but David James (Portsmouth's Goalkeeper) made an excellent save . The match ended with the score line of Arsenal 0-0 Portmouth. Still it was a great performance by a young and inexperienced Arsenal player. I feel the future of Arsenal is good and Arsene Wenger always thinks about the future. Well I hope Arsene Wenger stays as the manager of Arsenal for longer than 2008 . Arsene Wengers future has been in doubt because of arsenal's share being purchased by an american and David Dein ( Arsene Wenger's Close friend) being fired by the Arsenal's Board. Well, we will have to wait and see what happens.

Camping and GPS rentals

Well camping quite a relaxing thing to do in your spare time. I have been on a campiong trip about 3-4 times and I love the experience. Well the first time I went camping, I we didn't have lots of camping gear, just a couple of tents and some cooking equipment and that was it. Arsenal will be playing their last game of the season against Portsmouth. The match will be played at Fratton Park (portsmouth's home ground). Fratton Park is a hard place to play for Portsmouth's opponents and this is not going to be anything different but still Arsenal have the quality to beat Portsmouth at their home ground. After an less than suitable result against Chelsea , Arsenal could still finish third in the English Premier League this season but Liverpool have to drop some points in their last English Premier League against Charlton (who have been relegated ) for Arsenal to have any chance of finishing third this season.

Review: Arsenal vs Chelsea

WTF can I say?? It was a great performance by Chelsea and a poor one by Arsenal. Chelsea took the game to Arsenal in the first half and were pressing Arsenal . Arsenal were stuck defending most of the time but at the end of the first half, Arsenal put some pressure and created a chance (well a mistake by the defender) . Julio Baptista exploited the opportunity . Khalid Boulahrouz let the ball bounce and Julio Baptista capitalized and almost scored except that Khalid Boulahrouz another horrendous mistake by tackling Baptista from the back. A penalty was awarded and Gilberto Silva took the penalty taking duties and subsequently scored from it. I forgot to mention one thing, Khalid Boulahrouz got sent off for the tackle on Julio Baptista .

So against 10 men Chelsea, I thought Arsenal would score a bunch of goals but as i said in the first line of this post, poor performance by Arsenal. In the second half Arsenal put pressure on Chelsea as they should ( cos of ten men ) but still failed to create a lot of chances and Arsenal rarely threatened Chelsea's goal. I was so frustrates watching Arsenal play against Chelsea . Arsenal created many chances and enjoyed a lot of possession but as always this season, they didnt take the chances. As the second half went along , Chelsea grew stronger and Micheal Essien was the driving force. At about 70 minutes into the game, Micheal Essien scored the equalizer for Chelsea. A magnigicient header from Essien and the cross was provided by Shawn Right- Phillips .Both Arsenal and Chelsea could have won the match at the end but the bar and some splendid keeping saw both teams drawing the game. The score was Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea at the end of the final whistle. Arsenal actually helped Manchester United win the title as Chelsea needed to win against Arsenal to stay in the title race but that was not to happen .

UEFA Champion's League semifinals

The UEFA Champion's League is almost over, only the champion's league finals is left.It was a great UEFA Champion's League finals . Manchester United Played AC Milan and Chelsea Played Liverpool . It was a great UEFA Champion's League first leg and both Manchester United and Chelsea took the advantage in the first leg. UEFA Champion's League first leg results favored the home teams. But is was a totally different . Chelsea vs Liverpool played first in the second leg and it was quite a match. The match ended Chelsea 0-1 Liverpool in the second leg . Manchester United played AC Milan the next day and it was a great performance by AC Milan . In contrast, Manchester United played their worst game of the season .It was quite unlike Manchester United and almost all the Manchester United Players were poor that day to say the least. The scoreline was Manchester United 0-3 AC Milan in the second leg. AC Milan advanced to the UEFA Champion's League finals by beating Manchester United with an aggregate score of AC Milan 5-3 Manchester United. Liverpool advanced to the UEFA Champion's League finals with an aggregate score of Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea (the match was decided by penalty shoot-outs). Liverpool will face AC Milan in the UEFA Champion's League finals which will be held in Athens on 23rd of May. AC Milan will be looking to take revenge on Liverpool after AC Milan lost to Liverpool in 2005 UEFA Champion's League finals.

Now Arsenal have a great chance to secure the third place in the English Premier League table because Liverpool lost to Fulham today. Arsenal are just behind Liverpool by 1 point and if Arsenal win tomorrow against Chelsea, Arsenal will almost certainly finish third in the premiership table. I think Arsenal can win against Chelsea . As we all know that Chelsea are out of the UEFA Champion's League so it might affect Chelsea's performance. Arsenal have a good record against Chelsea and as you can see in the picture attached in this post above, Arsenal have played against Chelsea 164 times in the past and won 66 matches, drawn 50 and lost just 48 matches. This season Arsenal went up to Stamford Bridge and managed to get a point from that game against Chelsea. Arsenal will play at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, May 06, 2007. Arsenal vs Chelsea will kick off at 4pm. Alan Wiley will be refereeing this match.

Arsenal's recent form hasn't been that great and in the past five games, Arsenal managed to win just three games and drew two of them. I feel Arsenal should have won all 5 games but this has been Arsenals story this season. I honestly think Arsenal will win tomorrow against Chelsea despite lots of injuries to the key Arsenal players.

Tomas Rosicky has 50-50 chance of playing against Chelsea. Rosicky has been strugling with a hamstring injury .

Freddie Ljungberg will not be fit to play against Chelsea after he sufferd a hamstring injury during the Tottenham derby match.

We all know that Theirry Henry, Robin Van Persie and Theo Walcott will be out for the season. They will all come back stronger next season.

Arsenal's Player of the Month : Francesc Fabregas

Francesc Fabregas has been out standing for Arsenal this year and the past couple of years. Cesc Fabregas is just 19 years old but he is an integral part of Arsenal. Fabregas has been playing in the first team of Arsenal since he was 16 years of age and now he has matured a lot since then. He is just a great mid-fielder. I don't know how but Fabregas seen to find a lot of time and space when he has the ball. It is really surprising to see such a young player with that much composure. Cesc Fabregas has played the most games than any other Arsenal players and he has been outstanding this season. Cesc Fabregas should also receive the Arsenal's Player of the year award. Fabregas, Theirry Henry and Arsenal will come back stronger than ever next year.

Anyways , Arsenal's Player of the Month for the month of April has been chosen and it is non other than Fabregas. Fabregas received over two thirds of the votes . Fabregas received 67.45 % of the total votes . Gael Clichy received 10.10% , Emmanuel Adebayor 9.19% and the others received 13.26% of the total votes. The Award will be presented to Fabregas at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday (before the match) by John Thater and his daughter Rosie from Thames Ditton, Surrey.

"Cesc is not only the controlling heartbeat of the team but he finally came good as a goalscorer too," said John. "He is not just player of the month but a surefire contender for player of the season."

Review: Arsenal vs Fulham

I have to say this, Arsenal didn't play fluid , free flowing football against Fulham but they still managed to get all three points. After Julio Baptista scored in the fourth minute of the match, Arsenal took their foot off the gas and the match was uneventful till the 78th minute when Simon Davies scored the equaliser for Fulham . Arsenal conceded this goal because Jens Lehmann made a horrible mistake . Arsene Wenger should have let Mad Jens go. Then suddenly after the equaliser by Simon Davies , Arsenal were awake again and in the 84th minute , Emanuel Adebayor scored and Arsenal were in the lead again. Adebayor scored a goal like Thierry Henry .He passed it in the back of the net . It was quite a good goal. In the 87th minute, Alexander Hleb was brought down in the box and a penalty was awarded to Arsenal. As always this season, Gilberto Silva took charge of the penalty and scored the third goal for Arsenal . It was game , set and match. The score line was Arsenal 3-1 Fulham at the end of the ninety minutes.

After dropping a couple of points against Tottenham Hotspurs, Arsenal will have to play Fulham

Review: Arsenal vs Tottenham

Arsenal played Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart lane and it was quite an exciting match and the only disappointment was Arsenal just managed to get a point because of the last minute goal by Jermaine Jenas. Robby Keane scored the first goal of the match for Tottenham . Arsenal 0-1 Tottenham was the score at the end of the first half. In the second half, Arsenal dominated the pitch and in the 63rd minute Kolo Toure scored the equaliser for Arsenal from a set piece. Arsenal got a lot of chances but failed to score up until the 77th minute when Emanual Adebayor scored a goal and gave Arsenal the lead. Emanual Adebayor's goal looked a bit like Thierry Henry's. He passed the ball into the net like Thierry Henry used to do when he was fit. It was a great goal. It looked like Arsenal were going to win the derby match but just before the final whistle in injury time, Jermaine Jenas scored a long ranged scorcher and beat Jens Lehmann . Arsenal were partly to blame because Arsenal could have rapped up the match but they failed to convert the chances that came Arsenal's way.
